Job Description:

We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 3,037 years playing 60 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love. You'll own the visual quality of Colonist's UI. That means translating game mechanics into beautiful, intuitive interfaces, and making every button, animation, and screen feel like it belongs in a world players want to stay in. You'll work closely with developers and product to ship work that reaches millions of players. This isn't a support role. We want someone who pushes quality forward independently and treats the product like their own.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own the visual quality of Colonist's UI
  • Translate game mechanics into beautiful, intuitive interfaces
  • Make every button, animation, and screen feel like it belongs in a world players want to stay in
  • Work closely with developers and product to ship work that reaches millions of players
  • Create high-quality UI designs that set a new standard for creativity and usability
  • Create animations and motion that make interactions feel alive and intentional
  • Collaborate with developers and QA to ensure designs ship as intended
  • Identify and solve visual problems without waiting to be asked

Requirements:

  • Strong portfolio showing game UI, interaction design, or animation work
  • Proficiency in Figma or equivalent tools
  • Solid grasp of animation principles and motion design
  • Understanding of game mechanics and how UI serves gameplay
  • Clear, structured written communication

Nice to have:

  • Basic scripting for prototyping (JavaScript, C#, or AI-assisted tooling)
  • Game sound design experience
What we offer:
  • Competitive salary paid in USD
  • Stock (own a piece of Colonist)
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Yearly team offsite
  • Full work equipment
  • Budget to experiment with any AI tool you want
  • Stock options: you'll own a piece of what you're building
  • Access to all company metrics and internal discussions
