The UAS Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, integration, and testing of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) platforms and associated support equipment, ensuring all work meets technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Perform assembly, disassembly, and integration of UAS airframes and sub-systems
Conduct structural inspections on composite, metallic, and hybrid structures
Carry out composite repairs (skins, cores, bonded structures, inserts, doublers)
Install and torque mechanical fasteners in accordance with engineering drawings
Perform rigging, alignment, and mechanical system adjustments
Identify and report structural defects, damage, or non-conformities
Install, wire, and troubleshoot avionics systems including: Flight control systems, Autopilots and navigation systems, Power distribution systems, Sensors and payload interfaces
Manufacture and repair wiring looms/harnesses to approved standards
Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional electrical testing
Integrate communication systems, antennas, and RF components
Support software/firmware loading and system configuration when required
Conduct ground tests and system functional checks
Support engine/motor installation and functional verification
Assist in vibration, endurance, or environmental testing activities
Record and interpret test data as required
Support flight readiness inspections and pre/post-flight checks
Work in accordance with: Engineering drawings, Work instructions, Maintenance manuals, Quality procedures
Accurately complete job cards, maintenance records, and test documentation
Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) where required
Ensure configuration control of parts and assemblies
Maintain traceability of components and materials
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system faults
Use test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, torque tools, etc.) correctly
Replace, repair, or modify components in line with approved data
Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
Maintain professional standards and attention to detail
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Stay current with technical skills and training
Demonstrate accountability for workmanship quality
Requirements:
Degree or certification in STEM fields (e.g., engineering, electronics, robotics)
Proven experience in avionics maintenance or UAV systems
Self-motivated and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills
Clean driving license and ability to obtain security clearance
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Nice to have:
Familiarity with UAV flight controllers, sensors, GPS modules, and software updates
Hands-on experience with diagnostics tools and soldering/board-level repairs
Ability to read technical schematics and troubleshoot complex systems
Knowledge of flight safety and regulations desired but not essential
Comfortable working in field-based environments under varying conditions
