The Tubing Technician will lead and directly participate in the installation of carbon steel and stainless steel small bore piping systems in industrial facility construction settings, while mentoring fitter helpers and laborers assigned to their team. This role will work with job site leadership teams to ensure installations are performed safely, effectively and efficiently in accordance with all Company and client specifications.
Job Responsibility:
Read and interpret blueprints, ISO’s, field installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, and understand specifications
Works with site leadership and the field operations crew to coordinate the movement of materials, tooling, and equipment to work locations and sets up work site
Maintains assigned tools and equipment in accordance with Company practices and policies
Use appropriate hand and power tools to fit, install, disassemble, and/or remove specified type and size of pipe, pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings to hold pipe, install valves, couplings, and other fittings
Utilize threading machines for the installation of small-bore screw pipe
Lift, position and secure materials and work pieces during installation
Utilize pipe fitting, bending, cutting, and fusing techniques and methods for different types of piping systems including: butt welded, socket welded, threaded, grooved, and fused joints
Calculates pipe take offs and completes mathematical calculations in accordance with industry practice
Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards
Plan and lay out the installation of large bore and small-bore pipe around structural and mech
Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area
Understand and implement lockout/tag out procedures in a safe manner
Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
All other duties as assigned by Company management
Requirements:
Must have five or more years of experience fitting screw, small bore industrial piping
Candidates should have previous experience with rigging of pipe for construction applications
Must be able to read ISOs and create spool drawling
Must have strong mathematical abilities
Must be able to calculate tie in points and other site construction efforts in a high paced environment
Must be able to forecast needs and prepare work accordingly
Must have a working knowledge of pipeline fabrication
Ability to lead and direct subordinates
Ability to delegate work site activities and verify their completion
Ability to communicate and comprehend the efforts of others
Ability to think and act quickly
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to be attentive to details in a fast-paced working environment
Ability to multi-task, stay organized and close out assigned tasks

Valid driver license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles required
Ability to stand, stoop kneel, squat, climb, or sit for long periods of time

Ability to visually see equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
Ability to execute repetitive movements of the feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in performance of work
Ability to lift up to 50 lb. objects occasionally and to carry to up 50 lb. objects occasionally
Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions
Ability to remaining calm during emergency situations and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident
Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required
