Job Description

Our client, a government contractor supporting DoD mission software programs, is seeking a Product Support Engineer for a full-time onsite opportunity in Annapolis Junction, MD. This Engineer will work onsite, and support deployed software products used for DoD organizational messaging, information sharing, monitoring, and related operational workflows.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide Tier III support for deployed AET products
  • Serve as a key interface between the customer’s operational team and internal product support, development, and in-service engineering teams
  • Focus on product sustainment, release support, software installation and upgrades, field issue investigation, advanced troubleshooting, documentation, and operational support

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance with CI Polygraph required. Full Scope Polygraph preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Product Support Engineer, Support Engineer, Field Service Representative, System Administrator, System Engineer, or Systems Integrator
  • Strong Red Hat/Linux experience, including Linux command line, Bash scripting, logs, system errors, configuration files, and production troubleshooting
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Java applications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using logs, system behavior, configuration details, and other technical evidence
  • Experience supporting product sustainment, production issues, releases, patches, upgrades, deployments, and configuration changes
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows virtual machines
  • Experience with web application environments and web servers such as Jetty, Apache, or IIS
  • Ability to read JavaScript and execute basic SQL queries using MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Understanding of networking, sockets, web methods, PKI, certificates, and key management
  • Experience creating technical documentation, support procedures, SOPs, and status reports
  • DoD 8140-compliant certification such as CompTIA Security+ or Network+
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent directly relevant experience

  • Experience supporting DoD organizational messaging, defense messaging, naval messaging, or related mission systems
  • Experience supporting mission software in DoD, federal, classified, or operational environments
  • Experience with configuration management, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and release validation
  • Experience working directly with software developers to troubleshoot defects and support production releases
