Job Description

A Walnut Creek-based law firm with a practice spanning both trust & estate litigation and transactional matters is seeking an attorney to join the team on a hybrid contract basis, with the potential for conversion. This role is designed to provide immediate coverage support and offers flexibility for an attorney who leans more heavily toward either litigation or transactional work, with a preference for exposure to both.

Job Responsibility

  • Support attorneys on trust & estate litigation matters, including case strategy, pleadings, discovery, and court filings
  • Assist with transactional trust & estate work, including drafting estate planning documents and trust administration support
  • Manage caseloads and deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assignments
  • Conduct legal research and draft correspondence, memoranda, and client communications
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff across both litigation and transactional matters as needed
  • Step in to provide immediate support on active matters to help manage workflow demands

Requirements

  • Active California Bar license required
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in trust & estates, with exposure to litigation and/or transactional work
  • Open to candidates who lean toward either litigation or transactional, with some familiarity in both preferred
  • Strong drafting, research, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, collaborative, and comfortable stepping in to support immediate team needs
  • Able to report on-site to Walnut Creek at least 2 days a week
