Wilson Contractors is a well-established locally owned and operated company, specialising in civil contracting – we deliver a range of services including bulk earthworks, roading, drainage, infrastructure and siteworks to clients throughout Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes and Southland since 2003. We are looking for a candidate to join our busy Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago team as a Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver / Transport Operator. You will play a key role in transporting our varied range of small and heavy civil machinery throughout Otago and Southland.

Requirements

  • Must hold a New Zealand Class 5 Licence with WTR endorsement
  • Transporting experience in moving plant
  • A great attitude towards the care and maintenance of heavy machinery
  • Physically fit
  • Able to work unsupervised but also be a proactive team member
  • Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety
  • Positive can-do attitude and effective communication skills

  • A full valid NSW Medium Rigid Driver’s License (or higher)
  • A valid Tow Truck Driver’s Certificate or be eligible to obtain one prior to commencement
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster over a 7-day week (including public holidays) – for 12-hour shifts between 6am – 8:00pm
  • Exceptional customer service skills and demonstrated experience to work effectively across diverse communities

  • Responding to road service calls, loading, transporting and unloading vehicles
  • Doing so in a professional manner while adhering to all road rules
  • Helping to represent the NRMA brand by understanding the needs of the customer and demonstrating customer-first service solutions
  • Utilising your towing and transportation expertise to analyse the vehicle breakdown position and identify the most appropriate action to recover, secure and transport the vehicle according with safety standards and tow truck regulations
  • Ensure clear and appropriate communication with members, ensuring member safety and excellent customer service at all stages during the recovery process
  • Maintain tools, uniforms and equipment so that presentation is kept to a high standard and in a serviceable condition
  • Actively contribute to working groups, toolbox talks, trials and committees to enhance operations
