Triton Center Specialist - Admissions Officer

• Manage the Triton Center information desk, interacting with diverse individuals, addressing guest inquiries, and directing them to their destinations
• Provide work direction, training, and guidance to student employees
• Manage the general admissions email account, chatbot, and oversee front desk upkeep and distribution of recruitment materials
• Provide detailed information about UC San Diego’s educational offerings and admission requirements through on-campus or virtual presentations, workshops, some college fairs including information sessions for campus visitors
• Maintain relationships with counselors and community organizations to enhance enrollment efforts
• Review applications, evaluate academic records, and determine admissions eligibility, assessing transcripts from domestic and foreign institutions, and validating student records for admission purposes
• Participate in admissions committees, special projects, and training initiatives to support UC San Diego's admissions operations and recruitment goals
• Serve as a resource to the staff in Admissions, UC San Diego advisors, administrators and the campus community for issues related to admission to the University

• Bachelor's degree in related area with typically two years experience in undergraduate admissions, student advising, or student counseling and/or equivalent experience/training
• Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population
• Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures
• Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated experience and skill to routinely monitor production and quality of work being produced by student staff
• Ability to conduct professional presentations before large and small groups
• Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials
• Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and exercise good judgment
• Ability to assess workload, organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines
• Capacity to be precise and pay close attention to detail
• Ability to conduct independent and unsupervised individual evaluations and assessments
• Knowledge of admission-related technology including CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems
• Familiarity in the use of a personal computer including the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience independently developing, implementing and executing programs and workshops with high schools, community colleges and community-based programs for recruitment and yield purposes
• Detailed knowledge of complex and broadly written guidelines governing evaluation, admission and deferral of first-year and transfer applicants
• Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and practices relating to Admissions, Registrar, Academic Department and College functions

Ability to research, analyze and interpret documents from international educational systems, including transcripts, grading systems and curricula. Ability to recognize inconsistencies in academic records including duplication of course content, repetition and falsification
