This is a unique contract-to-hire opportunity for a California-barred litigation attorney seeking meaningful courtroom exposure and a clear path to long-term growth. The attorney hired will spend an initial 30- to 60-day contract period shadowing experienced trial attorneys, learning the firm’s workflow, and gaining hands-on exposure to hearings, motion practice, and trial preparation. Upon successful completion of the contract period, the attorney will convert to a full-time position. The firm is a well-established plaintiff auto consumer warranty firm with more than 170 employees and offers the opportunity to develop quickly into a substantive trial role.
Job Responsibility:
Handle substantive litigation work, including motions, hearings, and trial preparation
Support and eventually manage case responsibilities independently as experience allows
Participate in hearings and court appearances throughout California
Assist with discovery disputes, motion practice, and overall case strategy
Work closely with experienced trial attorneys during the onboarding period to develop familiarity with firm processes and litigation workflow
Grow into serving as first or second chair at trial
Requirements:
Active California Bar license and currently based in California
At least 1+ years of litigation experience
Strong foundation in civil litigation, including civil procedure, motions, motions in limine, and trial preparation
Interest in gaining hearing and trial experience in a fast-paced plaintiff-side litigation practice
Ability to ramp up quickly and manage a substantive workload
Willingness to travel throughout California for hearings and court appearances
