Job Description:

The town of Hopedale is seeking a full-time Clerk for the town’s Treasury and Collections Office. This is an entry-level position involving moderate to complex clerical work related to the receipt and processing of public payments, assisting with payroll and collections functions, and maintaining accounts associated with treasury operations, cash receipts, and disbursements. The position reports directly to the Town Treasurer, with general oversight provided by the Town Administrator and the Town’s Chief Financial Officer.

Job Responsibility:

  • moderate to complex clerical work related to the receipt and processing of public payments
  • assisting with payroll and collections functions
  • maintaining accounts associated with treasury operations, cash receipts, and disbursements

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred
  • graduation from a regionally accredited high school or equivalent is acceptable
  • prior clerical or office experience, particularly in a municipal or financial office
  • experience working with the public
  • familiarity with basic accounting principles and office software
