Job Responsibility

  • Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and other equipment to install UG plant facilities
  • Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently
  • Perform utility exposes (potholing) and understand the utility locate process
  • Locate other utilities as needed and maintain clearances from other utilities, ground, road, highway, sidewalk, and non-pedestrian areas
  • Transport, handle, and place conduits (rolled and stick) in a proper manner
  • Properly transport and install fiber reels
  • Install fiber cables in conduits following proper procedures
  • Set and secure pedestals and vaults accurately
  • Read and interpret network prints
  • Adhere to OSHA safety requirements to ensure safe and efficient completion of the job(s)
  • Maintain regular phone communication throughout the workday
  • Follow directions provided by the crew leader
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating directional drills is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Combination of technical training and/or relevant experience
  • Previous experience in a construction environment is preferred
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends, if necessary
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must pass drug, background, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screenings

Nice to have

Previous experience in a construction environment is preferred
