Job Description

Reporting to the Travel Underwriting Manager, you will take ownership of underwriting performance across a significant travel insurance portfolio. You’ll work cross-functionally with pricing, actuarial, finance, commercial, and business development teams to drive profitable growth while carefully balancing risk and claims exposure. This role offers strong visibility across the business and the chance to influence product design, pricing strategy, and underwriting controls in a dynamic and fast-growing environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage the net underwriting performance of assigned travel insurance portfolios, ensuring profit targets are met
  • Analyse performance trends and develop ultimate loss ratios for reserving committees
  • Support the development and enhancement of customer-focused products, including policy wording reviews
  • Work closely with Pricing to ensure robust sales and underwriting performance reporting
  • Recommend and support product and pricing changes through governance and sign-off forums
  • Partner with Commercial teams to support key distribution relationships
  • Contribute underwriting expertise to new business opportunities and RFPs
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance and FCA regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ underwriting experience in UK personal lines insurance
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Experience contributing to pricing, product, or portfolio performance discussions
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, and Adobe skills

Nice to have

Travel insurance and/or European market exposure is advantageous but not essential
