Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Transportation Planning Supervisor for our Milling division based in Cambridge, ON. As Transportation Planning Supervisor, you’ll be the driving force behind our logistics operations. Reporting to the National Transportation Manager, you’ll lead a high-performing planning team, foster strong partnerships with carriers and internal stakeholders, and champion strategic initiatives that deliver exceptional service and cost efficiency. In this role, you’ll ensure regulatory compliance, optimize routes and equipment utilization, and provide hands-on leadership and coverage across all planning functions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee daily scheduling, load planning, and dispatch for private and 3PL fleets
  • Mentor and train team members
  • ensure coverage during absences or peak periods
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams (Operations, Customer Service, Maintenance)
  • Monitor fleet performance to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
  • Align transportation activities with supply chain and production goals
  • Drive efficiency in routing, scheduling, and cost management
  • Ensure compliance with HOS, Ontario Highway Traffic Act, and safety standards
  • Utilize TMS tools (Descartes, Samsara) for data-driven decisions
  • Track and report KPIs: on-time delivery, cost per load, carrier performance
  • Support sustainability, safety, and cost-reduction initiatives

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
  • 10+ years in transportation, including 5+ years in planning/dispatch and 2+ years managing a team
  • Certifications such as CCLP or P.Log are strong assets
  • Experience with bulk, intermodal, and rail transportation preferred
  • Proficient in Descartes TMS, Samsara Fleet Management, and Microsoft Office Suite
