Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Transportation Planner for our Milling division based in Hamilton, ON. We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Transportation Planner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient transportation strategies to enhance the delivery of our products. This role involves analyzing transportation needs, optimizing routes, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. This role also requires developing and maintaining relationships with internal customers as well as 3PL carriers.
Job Responsibility:
Scheduling bulk deliveries daily, addressing and resolving shipment issues
Manage tendering loads to 3PL carriers, monitor and manage accessorial charges
Collaborate with other internal and external departments and work within tight deadlines set by Customer Service and the Flour Mills
Collaborate with Maintenance Planner and arrange truck and tanker drop offs for repairs, maintenance and internal/external washes
Payroll activities for all company drivers
Manage 3PL Carrier performance
Requirements:
5 Years or Greater Experience in Planning/Dispatching Local Drivers, Load Planning
Experience with Pneumatic multi-axle tankers, rail tankers as well as domestic intermodal deliveries would be considered assets
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
Intermodal Rail experience as well as Bulk rail experience would and asset
Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) Descartes experience would be beneficial, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards
Nice to have:
Working knowledge of Commercial Transportation legal regulations, Ontario Highway Traffic act and HOS requirements
Descartes TMS knowledge
Samsara Fleet Management knowledge
Ability to independently handle multiple projects
Excellent communication, negotiating and customer service skills
