We are currently offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Transportation Director in the Education industry. The position is located in South Haven, Michigan. The primary function of this role includes managing various aspects of transportation within the educational institution, coordinating school activities, and maintaining excellent records.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the transportation department, ensuring adherence to district policies, safety rules, and government regulations
  • Establish and manage efficient bus routes for regular school activities as well as co-curricular activities and field trips
  • Address passenger behavioral issues effectively and collaborate with parents and stakeholders to resolve transportation-related concerns
  • Recruit, train, and maintain appropriate staffing levels within the department
  • Implement ongoing training programs to foster professionalism among staff members
  • Evaluate staff performance in accordance with district personnel procedures
  • Handle the department budget, including purchasing, billing, and payroll timesheets
  • Keep meticulous records, including state forms, mileage logs, student passenger reports, and vehicle maintenance records
  • Assess immediate and long-term equipment and vehicle needs
  • Manage changes to bus schedules and communicate effectively with all school buildings
  • Respond to emergencies, including after-hours situations, to address immediate safety concerns
  • Provide information and direction in response to inquiries from staff, parents, students, and public agencies
  • Make field decisions regarding adverse weather, road and bus stop conditions, and student safety issues
  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the bus evacuation safety program

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Workplace Specialist or in a similar role within the education industry
  • Proficiency in Ada programming language
  • Demonstrated ability to use EXPRESS software effectively
  • Familiarity with Kronos Timekeeping System
  • Experience with About Time software is highly desirable
  • A deep understanding of Benefit Functions within the education sector
  • Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and standards within the education industry
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear, concise reports
