AKW are recruiting a Transport Operations Manager to join their team at their site in Manchester. The role of the Transport Operations Manager will be to manage all aspects of a large, fast paced transport office covering full load’s, part loads and pallet networks, vehicle cost and profitability and ensuring all the correct operational procedures are being adhered to.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the profit and loss for all vehicles by fully utilising the IT systems to ensure cost effective planning, accurate and appropriate allocation of driver/ agency workers/vehicle/loads/trailers to improve both the efficiency of the department and the company
Provide leadership and motivation to your team and complete Annual Performance Planning reviews to build an effective and engaged workforce resulting in improved productivity and sustained customer service levels
Lead on the recruitment and training and development of your department to ensure you have the right people, in the right roles, at the right time
Build, grow and maintain effective working relationships with key stake holders within both the business and the wider group to promote partnership working and improve operational efficiency
Create, promote, and implement clear communication channels with internal departments and external customers to improve KPI’s and the profitability of the business
Monitor all information to ensure it is up to date and held in a secure location to comply with GDPR legislation
Lead on the effective management of driver hours by authorising driver timesheets on a weekly basis and auditing and updating hours against the relevant systems to guarantee they are compliant to all regulations
Produce and audit relevant KPI reports for Customers and partner networks, evaluate trends to continually improve processes and procedures and ensure they are in line with business targets
Lead on maintaining clear communication between colleagues and Drivers to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained, to include Driver debriefs, manifest review and updates to any amendment /notes
Lead on the implementation and management of safe working practices, general housekeeping and manage audits from both external and internal clients to ensure the Company is compliant
Work with the Compliance team to ensure that all undertakings are adhered to as part of the Operator License compliance
Requirements:
Working knowledge of the Highway Code, EU tachograph requirements, Working Time Regulations, Road Transport Regulations
Transport and warehousing industry
Working knowledge of transport and warehouse management systems
Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or equivalent would be desirable
Proven operational experience of logistics services
Management of multi-functional teams
Experience of analysing and solving business problems
