We are looking for a proactive and organised Transport Officer to help deliver high‑quality, value‑for‑money transport services for children, young people and adults across the community. This is a fast‑paced, impactful role that requires analytical ability, strong communication skills and the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and reliable transport provision.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and organise transport allocations within agreed timescales and standards
Assess transport needs and complete route optimisation and contract adjustments
Analyse and record route, financial and contract data accurately
Provide clear advice to stakeholders and respond to enquiries and complaints
Prepare assessments, contract documents and support tender processes
Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues where required
Contribute to project work and share knowledge to support team development
Requirements:
Have worked in a fast-paced high demand transport service area (or similar), ideally in a public sector environment
The ability to understand and correctly apply policies to casework decision making
Excellent communication skills to work with stakeholders including parents, schools and colleagues within the council
Experience of managing contracts delivered by external contractors
Ability to analyse operational issues and deliver timely solutions
