Job Description

The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing driver compliance and fleet maintenance operations, ensuring vehicles operate safely, legally and efficiently. This is a hands-on role focused on all aspects of fleet compliance, minimising downtime, and driving high standards of Health & Safety and regulatory compliance across the operation.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and administer all aspects of the company Operator Licence
  • Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations and internal company compliance standards through rigorous on-site auditing
  • Schedule and monitor: Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), MOT testing, Driver daily checks, Licence checking and training, Tachograph compliance and reporting, Contractor / supplier management
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained and serviced in accordance with Operator Licence requirements
  • Monitor daily vehicle defect reports and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly
  • Review tachograph infringement reports and take appropriate action, including disciplinary measures where required
  • Investigate all incidents and accidents thoroughly, ensuring corrective actions and preventative measures are implemented
  • Manage fleet maintenance systems and associated vehicle documentation
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and support successful internal and external audits
  • Deliver driver briefings covering performance, operational updates, compliance requirements, Health & Safety and client expectations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in transport compliance management
  • Strong understanding of transport legislation and driver regulations
  • Excellent IT skills and experience using compliance systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, confident and customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Flexible, proactive and positive attitude to work
  • CPC Transport Manager or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Exceptional record keeping and communication skills

Nice to have

  • FORS Accreditation experience (desirable)
  • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence and practical driving experience (desirable)
