We are looking to recruit an organised and proactive Transport Coordinator to support the Transport Manager in the day-to-day running of a busy transport and distribution operation. This role is ideal for someone with strong UK transport and route planning experience who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and can confidently manage relationships with drivers, customers, and third-party suppliers.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the Transport Manager with the daily management of the transport department
Provide administrative support to ensure transport operations run safely, efficiently, and reliably
Plan and coordinate UK distribution routes and provide absence cover for the Distribution Manager when required
Actively manage the expectations and day-to-day communication of approximately 20 drivers
Liaise with third-party suppliers, contract hauliers, freight forwarders, customers, and internal departments
Monitor shipment schedules and maximise trailer utilisation by collating loads efficiently
Organise and book contract hauliers as required
Process Post Goods Issue (PGI) transactions throughout the day
Prepare and provide shipping paperwork and documentation following loading
Expedite export shipping requirements including Bills of lading, Delivery notes, Invoices, Dangerous Goods Notes, Shipment bookings, Obtaining freight quotations
Support shop floor employees with organising shipments, bookings, and delivery documentation
Monitor prepaid accounts and fuel usage
Collate and monitor tachograph records to ensure full compliance with legislation and company guidelines
Goods receiving and purchase order administration
Administer driver expense documentation and authorise expense forms
Assist with maintaining driver records including holidays, sickness, and absence management
Liaise closely with customer care teams, fleet drivers, supervisors, and management regarding delivery requirements
Requirements:
Around 3-5 years’ experience of route / transport planning
Manage a large team of drivers
Good commercial acumen to calculate and negotiate costings and complete administrative tasks accurately
Comfortable working onsite Monday to Friday either 8-5 or 7-4 – demonstrating flexibility when required
