Job Description:

TRANSPORT ADMIN / YARD. Howdens Joinery Transport is looking for a reliable and proactive TRANSPORT ADMIN (SOME YARD WORK) to support day-to-day yard operations at our Howden site. This is a Does invlove outdoor work , hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outside as well as desk based, staying active, and being involved in a fast-paced transport environment. You’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate yard information, managing trailer availability, and supporting the Transport and Shunter teams to ensure smooth site operations and excellent service levels.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage yard operations during your shift, with a focus on trailer availability
  • Carry out regular physical yard checks outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Complete and distribute yard check reports to key stakeholders
  • Identify, investigate, and correct discrepancies in yard data
  • Chase trailers to be tipped across site areas to create empties
  • Communicate job requests clearly to shunters on shift
  • Issue regular yard updates and trailer breakdowns
  • Support vehicle maintenance, MOT preparation, and callouts
  • Complete fuel pump area checks and vehicle downloads
  • Input loading figures into the Transport Management System (TMS)
  • Support administrative tasks such as POD archiving
  • Maintain stock levels of small transport equipment
  • Escalate operational or personnel concerns to the Transport Supervisor
