Job Responsibility

Outpatient clinic seeing general hepatology, pre- and post-transplant patients
Outpatient endoscopy
Inpatient service 1 in 4-5 weeks
Night/weekend call shared with GI, approximately 5-6 weeks total per year
Teaching students, residents and fellows
Clinical or health services research focus encouraged

Requirements

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
ABIM Certified in Gastroenterology with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Transplant Hepatology
Must meet UNOS/OPTN bylaws for designation as a Primary Transplant Hepatologist
Ability to obtain an unrestricted Louisiana medical license and DEA registration

Job Responsibility

Administrative Leadership: Serve as the Medical Director for Transplant Hepatology, overseeing clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and program growth
Regulatory Oversight: Fulfill all UNOS/OPTN requirements for a Primary Transplant Physician, including ensuring program compliance and maintaining current working knowledge of liver transplantation
Clinical Excellence: Provide comprehensive pre and post-operative care for liver transplant recipients
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a Physician Assistant. Collaborate with a second transplant Hepatologist to provide 24/7 program coverage
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside transplant surgeons, coordinators, social workers, and dietitians to optimize patient outcomes

Job Responsibility

Serve as Medical Director of Liver Transplantation
Lead collaborative program development within the Medical College of Wisconsin transplant service line
Direct provider engagement and program growth through accountable care initiatives
Mentor trainees in a fully accredited GI & Hepatology Fellowship with a planned Transplant Hepatology Fellowship
