Job Description:

Position Purpose: The TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION INTERN role within the organization will take on capital blanket work from initiation to completion during the extent of their time. The T&D Intern will work under the direction of the Supervisor of T&D to perform field inspections, with Veolia and contractor crews, perform updates to Standard Operating Procedures, and work in conjunction with planning to revise T&D work schedules. The T&D intern will also work in conjunction with GIS, assisting in the improvement of mapping systems from in-field changes. Internships at Veolia: Gain hands-on experience in at least one career function from Corporate, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Supply Chain or Technology.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist in the creation of weekly and daily job plans for the T&D and Production Departments
  • Review and adjust plans daily
  • Daily discuss activities and backlog with supervisors and the engineering department
  • Develop, continuously improve, and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in the Systems Office
  • Maintain and modify Planning SOPs
  • Indirectly supervise administrative functions performed by administrative support related with work planning
  • Responsible for being on emergency call and to respond to emergency T&D operations
  • Perform other duties as required by management & supervision
  • Comply with all Veolia Company and HSE procedures and policies
  • Review daily and weekly schedules for Contractor work to be performed
  • Participate in weekly Contractor calls with management
  • Visit Contractor Job Sites on an as-needed-basis and record all required Veolia & Veolia-contractor job data / checklists
  • Read, understand, and enforce all Contract terms with Construction Vendors.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • Working towards a four-year degree and you have Senior status in a related engineering, environmental science or construction management major
  • 3.2 Cumulative G.P.A required
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.

  • Support all aspects of the Rowan approach from site origination through operations of transmission, substation and distribution infrastructure
  • Lead transmission, substation and distribution strategy, design, and deployment in support of Rowan critical capacity
  • Lead internal and external teams to decisions and drive to outcomes
  • Lead, direct, and manage consultants in the design, procurement, construction and implementation of transmission, substation and distribution infrastructure. Identify risks during all stages of the project lifecycle
  • As a technical SME and strategy lead, mold design, project scope, schedule, and deliverables to meet client and Rowan requirements
  • Partner with procurement to deliver the equipment required for the success of Rowan projects
  • Support RFPs for electrical infrastructure design, construction, and operations. Review bids for conformance with the requirements of the RFP. Provide clarification on technical requirements
  • Integrate with the energy team to coordinate with the identified utilities. Act as the technical liaison between the consultant and the utility
  • Support the growth of the engineering team and of Rowan through the ownership of transmission, substation and distribution standardization to jumpstart internal and external teams
