Job Description

The Transition Manager is responsible for supporting the management and coordination of the activities of the team in the completion of a transition project. This role ensures that transition projects adhere to all required governance processes, utilizes the correct tools and that client requirements are met. The Transition Manager supports with fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on operational excellence.

Job Responsibility

  • Implements, runs, governs and controls transition programs from inception through to completion
  • Manages risk and minimizes potential failure by planning and ensuring the execution of all testing, training and change management activities
  • Undertakes due diligence investigations to determine exact client requirements
  • Works according to standard and set project management methodologies to plan and manage the execution of service and outsource transition projects
  • Establishes positive relationships with the client stakeholders and engage with them on a regular basis
  • Plans and coordinates engagement sessions with the client and prepare for and facilitate these sessions
  • Ensures that all parties remain informed throughout the process by ensuring that the required communication and reports are prepared and distributed on a regular basis
  • Identifies resource requirements for the transition project and negotiate and agree the use of the resources
  • Performs as a people manager to the cross functional transition team, developing team members to grow in their roles
  • Fosters a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on operational excellence

Requirements

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and standards (both Waterfall and Agile)
  • Business and commercial acumen coupled with strategic thinking ability
  • Ability to develop and enhance client and stakeholder relationships
  • Understanding of IT industry and expertise on transition management approaches and methodologies
  • Ability to construct plans and schedules with pricing information within a framework
  • Ability to interpret, deconstruct and contribute to contract collateral
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Information Technology or a related field
  • Solid experience in Service Transitioning and Project management preferably gained within a global IT services organization
  • Solid experience in engagement across contractual review and service definition
  • Demonstrated track record in managing complex client transition projects, preferably within a large enterprise environment
  • Demonstrable experience in communication and negotiation at a management level
  • Demonstrable expertise in transition management approach and methodology
  • Moderate level of experience in leading and managing a team

Nice to have

  • Relevant ITIL certification preferred
  • PMBOK and/or Prince II Certification(s) desirable

  • Ensure financial models, cost allocations, service mappings, and supporting tools are fully operational, accurate, and fit‑for‑purpose, enabling a consistent, integrated, and scalable end‑state for Group Network services
  • Act as a key bridge between transformation design and Network Finance activities, ensuring end‑to‑end processes are clearly defined, understood, and embedded across all parties involved
  • Validate functional cost mapping and allocation tables to network services during the dual‑run period, ensuring consistency between design intent and actual financial outcomes
  • Support the review and refinement of costing logic, allocation methodologies, and asset‑level financial linkages, including depreciation and fixed asset register integration
  • Support parallel running by analysing actuals, variances, and reconciling outputs between functional (cost centre) and service‑based views
  • Ensure accurate and complete recording of actuals across systems during the dual‑run period, including timesheet and effort‑tracking outputs
  • Support final validation of the service catalogue, quantity metrics, and demand drivers against live operational and financial data
  • Work with Network and Finance teams to support validation of effort‑tracking and demand‑management tools in live use, ensuring outputs align with financial and commercial requirements
  • Support the definition, validation, and documentation of end‑to‑end financial and operational processes required for BAU
