Job Description

We are currently seeking a Training & Safety Superintendent at our Coppabella Moorvale Mine. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for managing site training requirements, implementing and maintaining training systems while providing guidance to both mine site's personnel to ensure compliance with legislative obligations and requirements of the Safety Health Management System. You will be part of a dynamic team championing a strong health safety and training culture across the sites, embracing the diverse range of tasks that come with managing separate sites. This is an ideal role for an individual whom enjoys end to end ownership of their role and responsibilities.

Job Responsibility

  • Delivering and monitoring training and safety strategies
  • Maintaining the training system to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards
  • Audit of the LMS to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance
  • Ensuring the TNA and site induction process is compliant with current legislation
  • Maintenance of the site training calendar, inclusive of RS22 requirements
  • Monitor, maintain and track approved Safety and/or Training Projects as required
  • Provide direction, training and support to the site Training Specialist and Crew Trainers across all aspects of training and compliance
  • Coaching and providing advice on compliance with all legislation and site and Corporate processes and procedures with Key Stakeholders
  • Facilitation of risk assessments
  • Assist with ICAM Investigations
  • Assist with Contract Management - including onboarding of personnel and equipment
  • Optimise ERT Training and rectify any deficiencies
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information within the HST team, and work collaboratively within the team to ensure each can work to their full potential
  • Ensuring activities on site are carried out in accordance with the Safety and Health Management System requirements
  • Assist with Auditing of the SHMS and Training Function.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role within the mining industry
  • Thorough understanding of risk management principles holding the RIIRIS601 (G3) Risk Management qualification, or RIIRIS402 (G2) as a minimum
  • Thorough knowledge of Coal Mining legislation and its application to the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS)
  • Extensive knowledge of training and safety management systems, auditing and incident reporting and investigation. RIIWHS601 (G7) desired, along with ICAM Lead required
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or Higher) qualification and S1,2,3 Mining Supervisor competency
  • Demonstrated knowledge relevant to Vocational Education Training methodologies, strategies, principles and legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of applications
  • Possess a strong commitment to behavioural safety and cultural change initiatives.
