The Training & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering training programs that support employee growth, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. This role partners closely with leadership and program teams to ensure staff receive high-quality professional development aligned with agency goals, regulatory standards, and community impact initiatives. This position plays a key role in strengthening workforce capabilities, enhancing performance, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Job Responsibility:
Design, develop, and facilitate engaging training programs (in-person and virtual) for staff across departments
Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs for new hires
Ensure training curriculum aligns with state, federal, and licensing compliance requirements (including child development and early education standards, if applicable)
Assess training needs through surveys, performance data, and collaboration with leadership
Develop training materials, presentations, manuals, and digital learning resources
Track and maintain accurate training records and certifications
Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and outcomes
Support leadership development and employee growth initiatives
Coordinate external training vendors when needed
Maintain compliance documentation for audits and reporting purposes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Child Development, or related field required
3+ years of experience in training, learning & development, HR, or workforce development
Experience in nonprofit, community-based organization, or early childhood education environment strongly preferred
Strong facilitation and public speaking skills
Experience developing training curriculum and materials
Knowledge of adult learning principles
Understanding of compliance training and regulatory requirements
Strong organizational and project management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
