Job Description:

Trainee Track Engineer role within the Story Scotland Early Careers Programme. Work alongside experienced Track Engineers within the Story Track division whilst attending Sheffield Hallam University on block release as part of their Rail Engineering Graduate Apprenticeship. Gain practical experience on live projects while working towards a BEng (Honours) Railway Engineering.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting in engineering disciplines
  • Learning from our site team
  • Managing and building client relationships
  • Developing skills in railway-specific site procedures and safety standards (PTS, OLEC1)
  • Developing skills in surveying and setting out using rail technologies
  • Developing skills in understanding and applying Network Rail standards and Story quality processes
  • Developing skills in commercial awareness and programme-driven delivery
  • Enhancing communication, teamwork and organisation while operating in a professional environment spanning office and site work

Requirements:

  • Be over 18
  • Not be in full time education
  • Have the right to abode in the UK
  • GCSE (or equivalent) mathematics and English at grade C or grade 4, or above
  • 112 UCAS points including at least 64 points from two A levels or equivalent BTEC
  • National qualifications to include mathematics or a mathematics-based subject to at least AS level
  • Full UK driving license will be advantageous
