Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the UK’s leading providers of multi-utility networks with their work serving more than one and a half million customers. This position will be within the Design Team and will have you being responsible for designs and quotations in line with the business standards. The Tendering & Design Engineer’s role is to help provide multi-utility quotations and designs for commercial developments across the UK. This will involve you being responsible for on and off-site designs as well as supporting the Tendering & Design Manager.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide quotations and network designs that meet the customer’s requirements, referring to the company’s processes throughout
  • Liaise closely with the customer to ensure that quotations/designs meet the client’s expectations
  • Update designs with any new calculations, network drawings or variations to ensure that the designs are fit for purpose, are accurate and are completed to industry standards
  • Submit connection requests to utility operators and ensure they are returned within the customer timescales
  • Produce company construction packs to build in line with the timescales and requirements of the customer
  • Issue data and reports in line with business requirements
  • Assist the Tendering & Design Manager in design tasks

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering or of a similar background
  • Knowledge of current legislation and codes of practice relating to utility design
  • Demonstrate an understanding of customer needs and have experience in a customer focused role
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and have knowledge of Geographical Mapping Systems

Nice to have

  • Have a current CSCS card or gas/electricity SHEA passport
  • Recent utility network design experience
