Job Description:

A Trainee Teacher role at a specialized SEN school and college in Hindhead, Surrey, offering a two-year programme to become an SEN teacher with professional development opportunities. The school provides a unique, stimulating environment with amazing facilities such as sensory rooms and small class sizes, aiming to make a real difference in the lives of learners with special educational needs.

Job Responsibility:

Provide individualized support to learners
Work as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs
Assist learners with individualised learning plans
Support students in both academic and personal development
Pursue professional development and qualifications during the training program

Requirements:

Have a genuine passion for working with children and young adults with special educational needs
Are patient, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting learners
Have experience working in education, children's homes, or EYFS (minimum 6 months)
Have a strong understanding of the importance of individualised learning plans and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs
Are comfortable working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviour
Have experience with Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECs) or other communication tools for non-verbal learners (desirable)
Have experience with speech & language or BSL (desirable)
A full driving licence (preferred)
GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4 or equivalent)
Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship
A valid DBS check

Nice to have:

Experience with Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECs)
Experience with speech & language or BSL
