Trainee Teacher Opportunity - Inspire Learning in Cranleigh! Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of autistic pupils? A specialist school in Cranleigh is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual for the role of Trainee CABAS Teacher (known externally as SEN Teaching Assistant) to join their committed team.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teaching and support following individualised curriculums
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons and activities
  • Providing behaviourally based instruction
  • Encouraging acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene
  • Providing personal care (toileting, feeding) as needed
  • Contributing to curricular and teaching materials
  • Attending staff meetings
  • Taking part in extra-curricular and off-site activities
  • Progressing own development through training

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE, or equivalent, in English Language & Maths
  • Professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with children and disabilities
  • Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations
  • Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care
  • Able to perform tasks of a physical nature
  • Strong commitment to professional development programme
  • Understanding and personal commitment to safeguarding

Nice to have:

  • Experience in administering medication
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorders
  • Experience with learning difficulties
  • Experience with social emotional mental health
  • Manual handling
  • Restraint training
  • Speech and language therapy experience
