An exciting opportunity has arisen to train as a Timber Mill Machinist at our site in Stamco Hoppings Epping Branch. You will learn how to safely operate all of the equipment in the timber mill and the tool room, along with any associated software to produce a variety of high quality timber moldings. Training will include a combination of on and off-site training at the Epping site in Essex and the timber mill in Hastings, Sussex. As a Trainee Machinist you will learn how to safely operate all of the equipment in the timber mill and tool room, along with any associated software to produce a variety of high quality timber mouldings. In addition, you will learn how to safely operate plant, including side loaders and combi lifts to move timber around the site for storage.
Job Responsibility:
Work alongside others to develop the skills and experience to safely operate all the equipment in the timber mill and tool room, along with any associated software to produce a variety of high quality timber mouldings
Training will include a combination of on and off-site training at the Epping site in Essex, the timber mill in Hastings, Sussex and relevant training with external companies
Build effective relationships with colleagues and other departments by delivering a professional prompt and effective service
Assist with the operation of all woodworking machinery and handling equipment as directed by the Mill Supervisor including saws, moulder, cross cuts, kindling machine, grip line and baler as required
Accurately process and handle timber products in line with the health and safety procedures and company policy
Ability to operate all machinery in line with safe systems of work
Carry out daily maintenance tasks as required reporting any defects to management
Update the EAP as and when required
Requirements:
Minimum GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent (preferred)
