Job Description:

We’re looking for a motivated Trainee Line Mechanic to join our Contracting team at Northpower. This is a physical, outdoors role where no two days are the same. You’ll learn how to safely operate equipment, work at heights, and contribute to building and maintaining essential network infrastructure.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting with the construction and maintenance of electrical lines to meet customer and network requirements
  • Learning to develop work plans for overhead lines and equipment
  • Operating ground and structure‑mounted electrical equipment up to 33kV (with training)
  • Installing, replacing, and maintaining poles, structures, and conductors
  • Overhauling non‑load-bearing hardware on networks up to 110kV
  • Completing block courses and unit standards on time
  • Supporting the team with accurate paperwork, including inspections and incident reports
  • Working safely while upholding Northpower’s quality, environmental, and regulatory standards
  • Looking after issued tools, PPE, and equipment
  • Contributing to team productivity, positive customer experiences, and continuous improvement
