We are currently seeking a Graduate Trainee Design & Certification Engineer to join our Design Organisation within our Capability Development department in Doncaster. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a passion for aviation to begin their career in a dynamic and highly regulated engineering environment. Successful candidates will follow a structured, mentor-led training programme, working alongside experienced Design Engineers and gaining exposure to live aircraft modification projects from day one. As your experience develops, you will take on increasing responsibility, progressing towards independent working and readiness for promotion within approximately 24 months. During this period you will begin to specialise in a technical function (e.g Electrical Systems, Structures, Airworthiness, Additive Manufacturing). You will contribute to both design and certification activities, gaining an understanding of the full aircraft modification lifecycle—from concept through to manufacture, installation, testing and approval.
Job Responsibility
Support the creation of design and certification data in accordance with the Design Organisation Handbook (DOH)
Assist in engineering design activities under the guidance of Lead Design Engineers (LDEs) and Engineering Project Leads (EPLs)
Contribute to technical documentation including reports, compliance documents, and certification records
Support analysis activities (e.g. stress, systems, safety assessments) as required
Maintain configuration control of design data
Develop and apply knowledge of Design Organisation procedures and software tools
Ensure all work is completed in line with approved processes and regulatory requirements
Provide feedback on process improvements, efficiencies, and best practices
Support the day-to-day operation of the Design Organisation
Communicate progress, risks, and any resource challenges clearly to project leads
Assist with checking parts and engineering data for accuracy and compliance
Contribute to maintaining a safe, organised, and professional working environment
Work collaboratively across Design, Production, Maintenance, Installation, and Flight Test teams
Support manufacturing and installation activities where required
Gain exposure to aircraft testing and real-world implementation of engineering designs
Requirements
Degree (or expected degree) in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
