Job Description

Patel, Greene and Associates (PGA) is seeking an experienced Traffic Studies Engineer to support a wide range of traffic and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects. This position is available in our Bartow, Carrollwood, and Temple Terrace offices. This role requires proficiency in traffic and ITS concepts, experience serving as Engineer of Record (EOR) for traffic impact studies, and familiarity with FDOT standards, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Studies and access management requirements. The ideal candidate has experience developing and evaluating traffic signal timing using FDOT-approved software, conducting safety analyses, and supporting operational improvements to enhance traffic flow and safety. Job Responsibility

  • Demonstrate proficiency in all traffic-ITS concepts
  • Experience developing traffic signal timing using FDOT approved computerized timing programs, including performing data collection, conducting and documenting intersection and corridor analyses, implementing and fine-tuning timing plans, and evaluating their effectiveness to improve traffic flow and safety
  • Experience serving as EOR for traffic impact studies across a variety of development types
  • Experience conducting a variety of other traffic study types included in the FDOT Manual on Uniform Traffic Studies
  • Working knowledge of safety analysis, including Signal Four Analytics
  • Familiarity with FDOT access management requirements and related permitting
  • Often serves in role of (LTP), but typically under the responsible charge of a more senior PE
  • Proficient in technical writing
  • Capable of leading marketing efforts for less complex projects
  • Assist Task Managers in a variety of project administrative duties
  • Assist Senior Engineers with marketing efforts on larger, more complex projects
  • Directs Engineer Interns, designers, and technicians in completing traffic-ITS tasks, providing frequent peer reviews on their work
  • Requires little-to-no technical supervision by senior staff
  • Complete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectations
  • Ability to direct and mentor younger staff

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 0 – 10 years of progressively more complex post-registration Traffic and/or ITS design experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University, majoring in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Excellent verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with a variety of clients
  • Excellent attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize and assign work and meet deadlines
  • Excellent ability to perform multiple tasks in an organized manner and concurrently at the direction of PGA’s Leadership Team
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities in all aspects while continuing to produce at a high level
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-driven activities
  • Skill in working with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other Office Products
  • Ability to work with across other disciplines (roadway, structures and drainage, landscape, etc.) to identify and reduce design conflicts
