Job Description

We have an exciting role for a Trading Underwriter to join our vibrant wholesale trading team. Working as part of our Property and Casualty team, you will deliver best in class customer service to our Broker Partners and have autonomy to develop and grow an established book of SME business whilst adhering to underwriting criteria as set out in multiple Binding Authority Agreements.

Job Responsibility

  • Build positive relationships through day-to-day interactions with brokers partners to support business retention and develop new business opportunities
  • Handling all aspects of new business submissions and renewals in accordance with Delegated Underwriting Authority
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to deliver best in class customer service and adhere to agreed service levels
  • Liaise with insurer partners on complex cases that may be outside of Delegated Underwriting Authority
  • Maintain awareness of key developments within the market, identifying opportunities to expand Optis’s product portfolio and drive additional potential revenue streams
  • Take responsibility and ownership for delivering on personal and team objectives
  • Participate in and support key Commercial projects in conjunction with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years General Insurance experience in either an Underwriting, Customer Service or Claims role with an interest in developing a strong knowledge of Commercial Products and Underwriting criteria
  • Possess or working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g CIP, MDI)
  • A positive and professional attitude to customer service
  • An excellent team player with a proven ability to work under pressure and deliver on challenging business goals
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills and an ability to develop effective working relationships with brokers and insurer partners
  • An ability to utilise a combination of commercial acumen, prior experience and good judgement to make good business decisions
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail
