Job Description

Under limited supervision, installs/repairs lock sets, cut keys, repairs panic hardware/Lever and knob locks, etc... Key / re-key all types of MUSC systems cylinders. Lock shop is responsible for all locking devices at MUSC, including High security Narcotic areas, doors, and equipment. Answers maintenance calls for repairing and unlocking doors, file cabinets, desks, and lockers. Perform preventive maintenance on door hardware locking systems. Performs related and non-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma
  • Three years trade experience directly related to the area of employment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Approved Freon recovery certification
  • Physical requirements as listed (ability to perform job functions upright, seated, walking/mobile, climb, work indoors/outdoors, below ground, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more assisted
  • Ability to carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to push/pull equipment carts
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction
  • Ability to operate winches, come-alongs, jacks, etc.
  • Possess and maintain dexterity to use hand tools both manual and powered
  • Ability to qualify physically for respirator use
