Plans, supervises and assigns work to trades crews engaged in general repair, maintenance or construction activities that involve one or more trades, such as carpentry, masonry, electricity, welding, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), automotive repairs, plumbing and boiler operation.
Job Responsibility
Plans, supervises and assigns work to trades crews engaged in general repair, maintenance or construction activities
Screens, selects and provides on-the-job training for trades personnel
Makes recommendations on the repair, replacement and maintenance of buildings and equipment
Plans, organizes, schedules, monitors and evaluates trades activities
Assists in the compilation of data
prepares correspondence, reports, summaries and budgets
Maintains, rebuilds and tunes pianos
Performs high level trades skills in the maintenance and repair of military equipment
Ensures no unauthorized gas releases into the atmosphere
Makes installations, tests, and repairs in accordance with E.P.A. and other applicable regulatory guidelines
Recharges air conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary
Reset air conditioning and refrigeration system and check for proper operation after power failure
Adjusts and calibrates pneumatic and electronics controls
Overhauls compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed
Diagnose and repair equipment problems pertaining to air conditioning, heating and refrigeration
Uses proper tools and electrical meter
Coordinates repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown and startup of air conditioning systems throughout campus
Supervises and instructs mechanics of lower grade
Brief supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation of equipment
Maintain work area and job site in clean and orderly manner
Performs miscellaneous and related duties as required
Requirements
A high school diploma
Three years trade experience directly related to the area of employment
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Approved Freon recovery certification
Physical requirements as listed (ability to perform job functions upright, seated, walking, climbing, work indoors/outdoors, below ground, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, crawling, grip strength, use of hands/arms/legs, lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted, pushing/pulling, vision, hearing, etc.)
