Job Description

Our Fleet Department is looking for a experienced and motivated individual to join our team maintaining and repairing a varied fleet consisting of approximately 225 Public Works, Fire / Rescue and other specialized vehicles. This is commercial transport/heavy duty mechanical work at the journeyman level, involving maintenance, repair and overhaul of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment both in the shop and in the field.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintaining and repairing a varied fleet consisting of approximately 225 Public Works, Fire / Rescue and other specialized vehicles
  • Commercial transport/heavy duty mechanical work at the journeyman level, involving maintenance, repair and overhaul of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment both in the shop and in the field

Requirements

  • Proficiency in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of diesel and gas engines plus transmissions all with electronic control, along with a thorough knowledge and understanding of air brake, electrical and electronic systems
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is preferred, and the successful candidate must possess their own hand tools
  • Completed Grade 10 and possess Interprovincial Red Seal or Trades Qualification for the Province of British Columbia as a Commercial Transport, Truck and Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • A valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with Air Endorsement is required (or must obtain within 6 months of being appointed)

Nice to have

  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate
  • Experience with welding and small-scale fabrication
