Job Description:

A large international law firm is seeking an experienced Trademark Litigation Paralegal to support high-stakes trademark matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This is a priority hybrid contract-to-hire opportunity supporting complex TTAB proceedings for sophisticated clients in the firm’s San Francisco office, with an initial onsite requirement of up to four days per week during training and a transition to two to three days onsite once fully ramped. This role is best suited for a paralegal with hands-on Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) experience who is comfortable managing matters through all phases of trademark litigation and working semi-autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide comprehensive trademark litigation support across all phases of TTAB proceedings, including oppositions, cancellations, motions practice, discovery, trial preparation, and potential appeals
  • Prepare and file TTAB pleadings and submissions, including Notices of Opposition, Petitions to Cancel, Answers, counterclaims, affirmative defenses, and related motions
  • Manage TTABVUE filings, service and proof of service requirements, and internal file alignment
  • Draft routine motions, extensions, stipulations, discovery requests, and discovery response templates
  • Assist with deposition preparation, document production, privilege logs, and electronic discovery
  • Maintain docketing and calendaring using firm systems, including CompuLaw
  • Support trial preparation, including exhibits, deposition designations, and coordination of logistics
  • Conduct trademark enforcement investigations, including USPTO application monitoring and common-law usage research
  • Perform legal research and cite-checking using Westlaw and related tools
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support teams

Requirements:

  • Direct, hands-on USPTO TTAB experience required (no exceptions)
  • Minimum 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting trademark litigation matters (not trademark prosecution)
  • Strong understanding of TTAB procedures, deadlines, and litigation workflows
  • Proficiency with litigation and e-discovery tools (e.g., Relativity, Everchron, Case Map, Westlaw)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional, reliable, and team-oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required in accordance with CA Business & Professions Code §6450
