We are looking for a Trademark Enforcement Paralegal to support a busy intellectual property practice in New York, New York. This position centers on trademark enforcement across U.S. and international matters, with additional involvement in prosecution and portfolio administration when needed. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, careful attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with attorneys, outside partners, and global brand protection teams in a fast-moving environment.
Job Responsibility
Oversee trademark enforcement matters across domestic and international jurisdictions, managing issues from initial review through resolution
Monitor online marketplaces, websites, and related channels for unauthorized brand use, and coordinate takedown efforts to address infringing content
Investigate suspected counterfeiting, misuse of trademarks, and deceptive brand activity, compiling findings for legal review and follow-up action
Evaluate trademark watch notices, identify potential conflicts, and prepare clear summaries with recommended next steps for attorneys
Draft and organize enforcement communications, including cease-and-desist correspondence and supporting materials for dispute matters
Assist with contested trademark proceedings such as oppositions, cancellations, and domain-related disputes, while coordinating evidence and case documentation
Collect, organize, and maintain proof of use, priority, and infringement to support enforcement strategies and legal filings
Support trademark prosecution and portfolio maintenance by helping with filings, deadline tracking, renewal activity, record updates, and communication with foreign counsel
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience in a trademark paralegal role with substantial exposure to enforcement matters
Demonstrated knowledge of online infringement response, counterfeit investigations, domain name disputes, and trademark dispute proceedings
Working familiarity with U.S. and international trademark prosecution processes, including applications, maintenance filings, and office action support
Understanding of global trademark procedures, including experience with foreign counsel coordination
familiarity with Madrid Protocol processes is preferred
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, identify practical enforcement options, and manage competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a careful approach to drafting summaries, correspondence, and status updates
High level of organization, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a remote or virtual setting
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience supporting intellectual property enforcement or trademark law matters
