Job Description:

Grant & Stone Plumbing provides expert plumbing and heating supplies, with a strong emphasis on customer service and technical support. As part of Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG), we deliver specialist focus with dependable backing. We’re now looking for a reliable and customer‑focused Trade Counter Sales Assistant to join our team at our High Wycombe branch.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serving trade and retail customers at the counter
  • Processing customer orders and enquiries face-to-face and over the phone
  • Recommending products and solutions to meet customer needs
  • Building strong relationships with existing customers and identifying new sales opportunities
  • Resolving customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally
  • Maintaining strong product and technical knowledge
  • Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Supporting the branch with general day-to-day tasks

Requirements:

  • Trade counter or plumbing merchant experience
  • DIY, builders' merchant, or trade background (preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good industry and product knowledge
  • Confident communication and customer service skills
  • Basic numeracy skills (addition & subtraction)
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work with minimal supervision
  • Friendly, approachable, and a strong team player
  • Willingness to undertake training and develop in the role

Nice to have:

  • DIY, builders’ merchant, or trade background (preferred)
  • sales experience preferred

  • Assisting with control of stock, including processing of deliveries, click and collect and actioning weekly stock counts.
  • Supporting Branch operations including stock preparation, stock management and restocking of customer sites (where required)
  • Complying with and being an advocate for Health & Safety and Security at all times
