The Boeing Company is seeking a Trade Control Specialist (Experienced or Senior) to join our Boeing Global Trade Controls team. The Trade Control Specialist supports the company’s global trade compliance program by ensuring adherence to export control laws and regulations. This role supports Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company. Spirit designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions. Boeing is a leading global aerospace company and top U.S. exporter that develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products, and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries. This role collaborates with internal organizations to develop and execute trade control (export strategies) and requirements, obtain required authorizations/licenses, and leverage best practices to strategically manage compliance risks.
Job Responsibility:
Develops and drives trade control strategies to enable business execution
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with business partners and peers
Supports development, implementation and administration of Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) export licenses throughout the export life-cycle
Defines, develops, and implements export control processes and solutions
Interprets and applies U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements to company export activities, including: CFR 15 (EAR), and CFR 22 (ITAR)
Identifies trade compliance risks, reports and discloses findings, as needed, and develops mitigation plans
Prepare and submit export license applications through systems such as SNAP-R and DECCS
Provides training, guidance, and technical expertise to internal stakeholders on trade compliance requirements
Supports internal audits and government inquiries
Conduct regular audits of Trade Compliance systems and processes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
Communicates effectively across all levels of management and external organizations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, legal studies or related field
3+ years of experience in export compliance, global trade compliance, or a related field (e.g. Program Manager, Contracts, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Logistics)
Experience with U.S. export laws and regulations (Export Administration Regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and Office of Foreign Assets Control)
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Nice to have:
5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to attended Trade Compliance industry specific trainings
Experience in export compliance, and/or international trade
Experience with export licensing procedures for controlled goods and technology
Background in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industry a plus
Project management experience
Experience participating in compliance assessment activities supporting global trade controls matters
Experience writing trade control authorities / export licensing
Experience with trade systems such as SAP GTS, screening tools, and classification tools
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Experience with export classifications (ECCN/USML)
