Job Description:

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for Sanctioned Country due diligence, Denied Party Screening, import/export tariff code determination, and supporting the team and manager to ensure compliance with customs and other government agency regulations. The role will also support trade-sanctioned country management and acquisition-related projects. The selected candidate will contribute to compliance improvement initiatives and the implementation of best business practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Evaluate trade rules/regulations (Integra key countries) in related jurisdictions and ensure compliance with Import & Export regulations
  • Tariff classifications & ECCN determination of all products imported or exported
  • Perform DPL / RPL screening for new customers or changes in existing customers
  • Assist the team with trade-sanctioned country due diligence
  • Conduct independent research utilizing the internet, third-party tools, commercial databases, and internal systems to evaluate and disposition sanction system alerts
  • Review Letters of Credit in line with current regulations
  • Monitor Global Trade Management (GTM) system for transactions on hold and take timely action
  • Collaborate with internal QA and Regulatory teams or external partners (e.g., Chamber of Commerce) to support customer needs
  • Stay updated on changes in import/export regulations and related documentation or certification requirements
  • Determine products’ Country of Origin and Free Trade Agreement eligibility
  • Lead import/export transactions and ensure compliance with U.S., EU, and foreign government requirements
  • Implement and maintain trade compliance programs, procedures, and policies
  • Support Trade Compliance Managers with data collection and analysis for audits and investigations
  • Develop reports and analytics to support ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Perform quality review of compliance reports and analytics
  • Investigate and follow up on shipment delays related to documentation or certificates
  • Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required
  • Export Certification or Customs brokerage license preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work in a matrix team environment
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, Oracle preferred
  • Experience with Global Trade Management Software is a plus
  • Proficiency in global tariff classification and ECCN codes
  • Knowledge of BIS, EAR, ITAR, OFAC, international export compliance regulations, and sanctioned party screening processes
  • Familiarity with EU Dual-Use Regulation (EC) No. 428/2009, EU military/defense controls, and UK equivalent regulations is a plus
  • Experience in documenting and implementing global trade policies and procedures
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English
  • Experience in multinational manufacturing and distribution environments, preferably in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in trade compliance
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in database management and tools such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Power BI, and Oracle
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • High degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10%)

Nice to have:

  • Export Certification or Customs brokerage license
  • Experience with Global Trade Management Software
