Job Description:

We are looking for a highly organized and solutions-driven Trade Compliance Manager to build and lead our import compliance function. This role will play a key part in ensuring adherence to U.S. customs requirements, trade regulations, and internal controls while supporting operational efficiency. The right candidate brings hands-on compliance experience and enjoys creating structure, processes, and programs from the ground up.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and roll out a company-wide import compliance framework aligned with business operations
  • Create, update, and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls related to trade compliance
  • Oversee proper tariff classification, valuation, and country-of-origin determinations
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and advise internal teams on potential business impact
  • Review and maintain import records including invoices, packing lists, and customs filings
  • Ensure documentation retention meets regulatory requirements
  • Design and deliver compliance training for procurement, logistics, finance, and related teams
  • Act as a resource across departments, reinforcing best practices and compliance awareness
  • Perform internal reviews to identify exposure areas and implement corrective actions
  • Drive ongoing improvements to reduce risk and strengthen controls
  • Oversee relationships with customs brokers and freight partners
  • Hold third parties accountable to internal compliance standards
  • Prepare compliance updates, metrics, and risk assessments for senior leadership
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customs inquiries and audits

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Legal Studies, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in import compliance, customs operations, or global trade
  • Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, tariff classification, valuation, and origin rules
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and trade compliance systems

Nice to have:

  • Customs Broker license (preferred, not required)
  • Background in regulated industries
  • Exposure to government trade programs and electronic filing platforms
  • Familiarity with international trade requirements
