Our client in the Westchester County, NY area has an opening for a Trade Compliance Manager to lead and optimize trade compliance operations within the organization. This is a Consulting to Potential Full-Time position that offers an excellent opportunity to design and manage comprehensive compliance frameworks. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of U.S. import regulations and demonstrate exceptional leadership and organizational skills.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement an effective import compliance program tailored to organizational needs, including updating manuals, procedures, and internal controls
Monitor and ensure adherence to trade regulations, including accurate classification, valuation, and country of origin determination for imported goods
Manage import documentation processes, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs entries, ensuring proper recordkeeping practices
Provide training and guidance to procurement, logistics, and finance teams to foster a culture of compliance across departments
Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and implement corrective actions
Collaborate with and oversee customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure third-party compliance with company standards
Stay informed about changes in trade regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance processes and mitigate risks
Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors to ensure alignment with organizational compliance requirements
Support regulated industry operations through adherence to global trade policies
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, or import operations
Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, classification, valuation, and country of origin rules
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with trade compliance software
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Experience in regulated industries and familiarity with global trade regulations
Demonstrated ability to manage audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions effectively
Nice to have:
Licensed Customs Broker certification
