Job Description:

Aurizon is seeking an experienced and safety‑focused Track Maintainer Team Leader to join our Infrastructure Maintenance team in Adelaide. In this hands‑on role, you will lead and support track maintenance activities to ensure the safe and reliable movement of freight across the region. You will coordinate daily work tasks, carry out inspections, oversee maintenance and repairs, and provide guidance to your crew. The role suits someone with strong rail or heavy‑industry experience who is confident working both independently and while leading a small team.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out track inspections and apply standards and quality control (QC)
  • Level 3 Safe Working
  • Workplace Trainer/Assessor responsibilities where qualified
  • Assistant Tamper Operator duties
  • Responsible for a small crew – team leader duties
  • Co‑ordinate and allocate maintenance tasks
  • Perform training and administrative duties

Requirements:

  • Certificate II or III in Rail Infrastructure, or strong equivalent rail experience
  • Demonstrated track maintenance or rail infrastructure background
  • Ability to lead small teams and coordinate daily work plans
  • Competent using hand tools, small plant and heavy equipment for track work
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence (no restrictions)
  • White Card (Construction)
  • High regard for rail safe working procedures and WHS requirements
  • Physically capable of outdoor, manual labour in varying conditions
  • Availability to work Monday – Friday 0700 – 1530
  • Ability to travel within region and respond to occasional call outs
  • Ability to pass a Category 1 Rail Medical and Driver History Check

Nice to have:

  • Experience supervising small track maintenance teams
  • Experience with Aluminothermic welding, offsiding or track protection
  • Machine operation tickets (loader, skid steer, excavator)
  • HR or HC Truck Licence
