The Treasurer is responsible for the professional, administrative, and supervisory oversight of all municipal revenue operations, including the collection, custody, investment, and disbursement of town funds.
Job Responsibility:
Manage tax billing and collection for real estate, personal property, and excise taxes
Oversee cash management, borrowing, and tax title administration
Enforce delinquent tax laws
Supervise staff, maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with GAAP, UMAS, and applicable regulations
Manage payroll and employee benefit disbursements
Oversee trust, pension, and stabilization funds
Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, business management or related field, masters preferred
Five years of experience in accounting, banking, and/or general finance
Two years of supervisory experience, five+ years of progressive managerial experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Certification as a Collector and Treasurer by the Massachusetts Collector/Treasurer Association desired
Must have the ability to be bonded
Experience with Tyler MUNIS preferred
Nice to have:
Masters preferred
