Randstad are proud to partner with the leading provider of construction and strategic building maintenance services for the Queensland Government. There is an immediate need for a Town Planner in the Brisbane CBD office with an initial 6 month contract. Join a highly motivated and supportive team in a rewarding and challenging role with consistent workflow, develop relationships with key stakeholders within State Government and maintain a positive work/life balance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct town planning analysis and research to assess development potential based on planning schemes and site conditions
  • Provide expert advice on social housing projects using departmental processes and procedures for compliance with the Planning Act 2016 and other relevant legislation
  • Prepare and manage Ministerial Infrastructure Designations and associated public consultation and notification activities
  • Facilitate engagement and partnerships with State agencies and Local Government Authorities during the preparation and review of statutory regional plans and planning schemes
  • Procure consultants to deliver impact assessment reports to support town planning feasibility reports and approval processes
  • Provide high-quality research and due diligence for government building projects, including healthcare, public housing, educational, and sporting facilities
  • Monitor complex multidisciplinary planning projects to ensure consistency with defined project deliverables and organizational acceptance of outcomes
  • Prepare high-level correspondence, reports, and position papers
  • Support workplace safety culture by ensuring all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied in day-to-day operations

Requirements:

  • Degree in town planning or equivalent
  • Demonstrated development assessment and/or property development experience
  • Preferably 2 or more years of experience
  • Strong oral/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised while contributing to the wider team's objectives
  • Experience within the Queensland regulatory planning system is highly desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic planning projects
  • Ability to undertake planning regulation processes and prepare associated administrative requirements
  • Expertise in conducting place-based analysis and identifying local renewal and redevelopment opportunities
  • Capability to build and manage successful partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to manage and coordinate town planning approvals for government building projects
  • Strong customer service skills, providing professional and competent advice to internal and external customers
