Town Hall Custodian

Whitman is seeking a candidate to fill the role of the Full-time Custodian. This is a Unit B Step 1 position paying $24.94 per hour. Hourly rates for a Unit B position range from $24.94 for a step 1 to $32.08 for a step 25. Hours are Monday thru Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with an unpaid lunch hour. The primary function is to provide for the overall maintenance and repair of the Town Hall and grounds: cleaning and stocking restrooms, removing rubbish, ensuring the building inside and out is safe from all hazards such as clearing of ice and snow during the winter months, maintaining the boilers and AC systems at Town Hall, Police Station, and the Library, maintaining the Auditorium , assisting the Town Clerk in preparing for Town Election, and performing a variety of other custodial and maintenance duties as needed. A high school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of experience in general building/grounds care or a related field or an equivalent combination is required. Work requires moderate intermittent physical strength and effort daily, such as lifting and carrying heavy objects. An employment application and consent to a CORI and Drug/Alcohol Screening will be required of the successful candidate.
