The town of Natick department of Public Works seeks a Town Engineer to lead the Engineering division. The Town Engineer supports department goals, manages major infrastructure projects and serves as an engineering authority of the town. They provide overall direction for the Engineering division by planning, organizing and directing field and office activities; developing, recommending and implementing policies, systems, and procedures; and conducting or overseeing the planning, design, location, construction, maintenance and repair of highways, sidewalks, bridges, water, wastewater and draining systems, waterways, and other physical infrastructure and assets. Responsibilities include planning, design, and construction of roadway and utility infrastructure projects. Managing grants, contracts, vendors, and personnel. Serving as the town’s DPW liaison to boards and committees. The Town Engineer also supports short and long-range capital planning.
Job Responsibility:
Makes engineering decisions, provides direction, reviews plans and designs for Town infrastructure, MADOT projects in Natick, and new development in Natick
Prioritizes, assigns, and coordinates engineering personnel to complete division tasks and objectives
Development of the annual operating and capital budgets in conjunction with Executive Director. Provides financial analysis of ongoing projects and contracts
Maintains plans and as-built conditions of Town infrastructure including but not limited to roads, record plans, piping infrastructure, GIS data, right of way and other similar records
Authorizes utility and street construction permits, enforcement of rules and regulations with developers, contractors, residents, and other stakeholders
Requirements:
Must hold a current Massachusetts PE license and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
10 years of professional engineering experience, at least two (2) of which must be in a supervisory capacity
A combination of education, experience, and training can be considered if it is demonstrated that the required knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
Have and maintain a Class D Motor Vehicle Driver’s license
