Job Description:

The town of Shutesbury seeks a professional Town Clerk (25 hrs/week, up to $38,161/year). Serving as the Chief Election Officer and Records Access Officer, you will manage all elections, maintain vital statistics, and act as the “Keeper of the Seal”. Located in the scenic hills of Western Massachusetts, Shutesbury is a small, engaged rural community that values transparency and local participation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Administer the annual Town Census and street listings
  • Issue municipal licenses and burial permits
  • Manage the Town website and YouTube page, including posting minutes and uploading recordings
  • Serve as the Chief Election Officer and Records Access Officer
  • Manage all elections
  • Maintain vital statistics
  • Act as the Keeper of the Seal

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor’s preferred
  • Five to seven years of municipal supervisory experience highly desirable
  • Must be bondable with a valid MA driver’s license
  • Requires a flexible schedule for evening meetings as needed
