Job Description:

Acushnet, (Population 10,602), a financially sound town, located on the Massachusetts Southcoast. The Town abuts New Bedford, 50 miles south of Boston and 30 miles southeast of Providence, R. I. Acushnet is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time Town Administrator position.

Job Responsibility:

  • Chief administrator officer of the town
  • Responsible to the Board of Selectmen for the administration of all town affairs

Requirements:

  • Person especially fitted by education, training or previous experience in public administration to perform the duties of his office
  • Shall devote full time to the office and shall not hold any other public office, elective or appointive, nor engage in any other business or occupation during his term
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Extensive knowledge of administration and finance, human resources, collective bargaining, public works, public safety, planning, and infrastructure project management
  • Ability to plan and execute a $35+ million budget

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, public administration, finance, or a related field
  • Three years of progressively responsible executive experience in municipal government
  • MUNIS experience
